I'm famous on the innernets

Gross overstatement, but I have to give mad props to the kind peeps who have written about me and my blogs lately. Sure, they might be prone to exaggeration somewhat, but they make me sound far more exciting and glamorous than I really am, and I appreciate that.

The Makeup Case asked me about my nail polish collection, which, as you know, is my pride and joy. In the same way Michael Flatley insures his feet, I should insure my babies. Must look into that.

Bossy Beauty asked me about my career, my beauty must-haves and my nail polish collection (naturally).

Style Icons/Instyle for Hair asked me lots of questions about blogging. It was fun. I like talking about blogging.

My brownie recipe, via Honey Honey

Are you on the Honey Honey mailing list? No? Well then, you missed out last Friday. I was waxing lyrical about bags and brownies and manicures and music in their weekly newsletter.



One of the things I talked about was my go-to comfort food – magical chocolate brownies that I make myself. Toot toot, these babies are amazing. I have been using the same recipe for years and it never ever lets me down. I had a few requests on twitter to share, so here it is.

200g butter
½ cup cocoa
2 cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon imitation vanilla essence
1 cup plain flour
2 eggs

1. Preheat oven to 180c. Grease a 20x30cm tin.
2. Put butter and cocoa in a large pan. Melt gently over very low heat (careful not to boil it!)
3. Add sugar and vanilla. Stir really well.
4. Remove pan from heat. Sift in the flour. Stir.
5. Add eggs. Beat mixture well.
6. Spread evenly in tin. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

I occasionally add chopped up white chocolate into the mixture while I’m pouring it into the pan, just in case I want to turn a sweet treat into a super sweet treat (not advised for diabetics – this is coma-inducing). You can also add walnuts or hazelnuts for extra crunch. Serve them hot with ice cream or let them cool just a bit and eat them when they’re all fudgy and chewy.

Stuff in the Media - me in DOLLY mag!!

I was happily sitting at my desk last Friday when Kat came bounding up to me brandishing an advanced copy of today's DOLLY magazine. She thrust it in my face and it seriously took me a good 5 seconds to realise it was me. ME! It's very disconcerting to see your face in a magazine like that, especially when I was expecting a small picture, not a whole dingin page!

I was shot for this story (not literally, obvs) about 2 months ago, so it felt like an eternity waiting for it to come out and now it's here!! Weeee!!! It's a feature called Beauty and the Blog and it's four different types of beauty bloggers giving their top 5 favourite products under $25 and different pieces of beauty advice (mine is how to get 5 different products to perform double duty). I am definitely amongst illustrious company - Zoë Foster of Primped (idol!), Eva Chen of Teen Vogue and Carissa Passerella of Hooked on Beauty. Please pop down to your newsagent and grab a copy of DOLLY - not only does it come with a free Gossip Girl umbrella, but it's a kickass magazine (especially the hot bird on page 123).

I'm famous!

I can't believe I haven't told you guys this yet. Yes, it's true, I am in the latest issue of Cleo. See, that's me on the cover (ha! I kid! As IF I would wear my dress that long).

I'm on this months Beauty Panel (page 74/75), where I got given some cool beauty products to play with (All About Glo illuminator and Nak dry shampoo) and then I got to write reviews for them. It was so much fun, and I'm really thankful to Cleo for the opportunity to see my ugly mug in print.
